A proper statue, and real campfires
- The mourner statue, used at the Sanctuary gate, in graveyards and on the crypt chasm's island, has been carved properly. It was a cone with a ball on top.
- It's now a hooded figure, head bowed and face lost in shadow, hands raised together in prayer, with a rope belt.
- The robe falls in smooth folds that pool at the hem.
- It stands on a moulded plinth (footing, die, cornice) with moss at its foot.
- New builds turned, folded, smooth-shaded shapes.
- Campfires, in the Cursed Forest's camps and the Sanctuary courtyard:
- The hearth: a ring of fire-blackened stones, an ash bed, five logs stacked in a leaning cone with charred tops, and a couple of split logs.
- The fire: a bed of coals that breathe and glow from within, layered flame tongues (a body and a hot core) burning from white-yellow through orange to red, sparks spiralling up on the heat, and a thin drift of smoke.
- The light: a warm, flickering light.
- The sound: a looping 3D crackle: a soft roar under constant crackles, the odd pop of splitting wood and a hiss of sap. Every fire starts at a different point in the loop, so no two crackle in step.
- Performance: three small GPU particle systems per fire (sparks and smoke are dropped on Potato quality), and they stop drawing beyond 55 m.
- The Sanctuary's fire replaces the old block of embers. The level keeps its stones' collision and its light.
